"How
We Wax Our Cars"
This
is the easy bit! What, you say? Isn't
waxing correctly a mysterious and difficult procedure?
NO.
Believe
it or not, cleansing is the hard bit. If you put in the
hard work cleansing and preparing a smooth surface for the wax.
It should be an enjoyable walk in the park.
Ensure
that your car has been thoroughly washed and cleansed with Bowden's
Own Auto Body Gel and Auto Body Cleanser respectively. No matter
how good we make the wax, if it is not applied to a correctly treated
surface, it will neither look very sharp, nor bind to the surface
correctly to offer adequate protection.
Ensure
the cars surface is out of direct sunlight and cool to touch.
Shake
Well!
We
aren't saying that for practice, shake the arse off it!!
Apply
a 50-cent size amount of Auto Body Perfection to a micro-fibre applicator
pad.
Work
on one small area of the car at a time, using a back and forth motion,
imagine the manner in which the paint was applied and mimic this,
but with shorter, overlapping strokes. Or think of how air travels
over the surface of your vehicle, both will achieve the same result.
Try and spread the wax as far as possible
The
less you use, the better the results and your dollar stretches much
further.
Remember
this simple rule; Less
is Best!!
Remove
the Auto Body Perfection before it dries with a clean microfibre,
or a well washed 100% cotton terry towel cloth.
TIP;
to ensure that the entire car is worked upon,
do only one square metre, or no more than one panel at a time.
Inspect
the car to ensure all residue is buffed away.
TIP
Give the wax at least 12
hours to cure on the car, before it gets water on it again.
We sit our cars out in the sun, for an hour
in winter, 15 minutes in summer then let them sit overnight.
For
on-going shine and protection repeat the waxing process every 2-4
months. Or once it has stopped 'beading' water (Could be up to 8-12
months!).
For
the record, you don't have to cleanse
every time. I do the bonnet and any other area that gets it a bit
tougher, than the rest of the car. But that is all a matter of personal
preference; "Just how good can I make it look?",
and circumstance; "How was I to know about the plauge
of locusts?".
Happy
Motoring, the Bowden's Own team.
