K'gari Clean Up 2026
Four Wheel Drive Queensland volunteers have been cleaning up K’gari Fraser Island since 2001. The event is held annually over a weekend with volunteers and sponsors cleaning up marine debris from this beautiful World Heritage listed island.
We're proud to once again support and attend the 2026 – 4WD QLD K’gari Clean-Up
As part of the 24th annual 4WD QLD K’gari Clean-Up saw a notable increase in rubbish collected compared to 2024, with a total of 8,355.28 tonnes removed from the island. This remarkable effort was made possible thanks to the dedication of 24 affiliated 4WD QLD clubs, who rallied 545 volunteers – comprising 466 adults (16+) and 79 children (under 16).
Our team were one of 30 event sponsors who were actively involved, contributing 104 adult participants and 25 children to the clean-up initiative.
Data collection and analysis were once again supported by the Tangaroa Blue Foundation, helping to provide clear insight into the types of debris collected. As in previous years, hard plastic remnants topped the list of most common items, accounting for 65.30% of the total rubbish. This was followed by lids and bottle caps, which made up 19.75%.
These figures highlight the ongoing need for targeted marine debris removal and the incredible impact our four-wheel drive community continues to make toward preserving K’gari’s natural environment.
The Bowden's Own Team will be there again to support the Clean Up, as well as have a yarn about our AWESOME 4WD Specific Range of car care, perfect to Clean Up your 4WD following the event.
