Porsche 356 Parade 2010

1 December 2009

Last weekend, I (Georgia Way) attended the 24th Annual Porsche 356 Parade in Melbourne, Victoria. It was an absolute honour for me to attend this event and represent Bowden's Own Premium Car Care as a sponsor of this magnificent event in it's 24th year.

There were close to 100 Porsche 356's on display - cars came from all over Australia with at least one car representing every Australian state except WA. There were even 6 members who made it over from New Zealand, and 1 member who travels all the way from Hong Kong every year just for this parade! Lucky for him, his car won a Gold Prize!

The night before the event, the Porsche 356 Register held a pre-event cocktail party at the Porsche Centre in Melbourne. Here we mingled with some of the finest pieces of late model motoring machinery! I was lucky enough to feel what it would be like to own a car that is about the same price as a house, by jumping in the drivers seat and feeling the perfectly luxurious comfort of a Porsche Panamera - the new 4 door Porsche. There was a bit of a line up for this pole position seat, so I couldn't dream for very long, but I took a photo to treasure the moment.

I arrived bright and early the next day to see all the 356's drive into Como Park in Melbourne's South Yarra. It was too hard to pick my favourite one, but the bright yellow speedster was one I remember  - yellow being my favourite colour (unfortunately the rain started to come down hard just as I was about to take a photo with this car).

Every owner of the cars on display received a gift pack that included a Bowden's Own Car Care Detail Pack (Detail Spray for a quick spray and wipe showroom shine, together with our ultra microfibre buffing cloth). This came in very handy throughout the day for most of the car owners who wanted to ensure the best possible finish and with the safest products available to care for their cars.

Unfortunately, we experienced some extreme weather conditions, and part of the day was rained out. However, this did not stop the 356 fans. Everyone stayed to the end to see who the winner would be.

The competition was tough, which was very evident when there were 2 winners announced! Both absolutely beautiful cars and restored immaculately!

We look forward to the next year, for the 25th Annual 356 Parade. They promise next year to be bigger and better, and we cannot wait!

Thank you to all the Porsche 356 members who made my visit very enjoyable, and an event I will remember. Hopefully next year I will be able to get that photo with the bright yellow Speedster!

Until Next Time,

Georgia Way
